Best Friends Don't MF Last. I will always ride for you-- but things have changed.. (INSERT A DRAKE LYRIC RIGHT HERE-- side note Drake has the best Instagram Captions)

Moving on, I recently read this article called When You Break Up With Your Best Friend from one of my favorite websites ManRepeller, and it struck a nerve.  It has been lingering on my mind for the past few years, but this past month I knew it was time. With this article, it just gave me the final push to really say out loud ‘I can't be her best friend anymore.'

I know that sounds dramatic af. But hear me out-- this is low-key like a breakup-- or even a ‘ghosting’ breakup.  We are all aware people grow apart, and that is life, but with best friends, you never think it's going be you two.  Over the years you move into different circles and meet new ‘best friends’ from college, work, etc. But you always have that ‘One Best Friend.' The one you introduce to everyone, the one who knows everything. Well, now it's different, and she's not my ‘one best friend’ anymore. Don't get me wrong I love her like a sister; I will always be there for her and vice versus. I know she will always have my back. But I can't keep providing excuses for her anymore. I am not saying I am the best friend in the world, but I show up in our friendship.

After a recent conversation, I knew I was done making excuses for our friendship. She comes in and out of my life like that one ex who keeps coming back to test the waters. And just like that you gotta cut it off.  I thought again maybe I should bring it up about our distance, but we both know it's not the same. I use to try, but now I am not. (Yes, I am giving up; mom sorry I am a quitter)

I am 29 years old and now. Our friendship has been great; our sisterhood has been beautiful; but its time to stop worrying about our distancing friendship. It sucks a lot. But now I got to say goodbye to being that ‘one best friend.'  I will always be there for her, but I refuse to get upset about her actions. I will see her soon for our occasional check-ups, holidays and birthdays. It's not the end of our friendship just a new type friendship.

At the end of the day, I will still ride for my old best friend. And yes, I agree this was dramatic af.
