Try It Out Tuesday: Fenty Beauty

Unless you have been living under a rock you probably heard that Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty on September 8th. After two years the long-awaited line dropped during #NYFW with 40 foundation shades and I must say that I am impressed.

Well thought-out and researched to create a line worthy of a global phenom, Fenty Beauty has taken the beauty industry by storm. Now the outpour of famous makeup brands has clouded my sponsored Instagram and Facebook feed with diversity where they once lacked. They probably feel salty and decided to jump on the band-wagon but thousands of Rihanna fans aren't having it. Fenty Beauty has proven that women of all shades are buying makeup in drones; making sure there were the lightest, darkest and every shade in between available. An albino beauty outpoured in enthusiasm because she has never found something fair enough without looking orange proving that Rihanna paid special attention to undertones for all complexions.

After watching hundreds of reviews on YouTube all week, I'm glad I was able to get my hands on it. I decided to be a little selective with my purchasing and opted to purchase only four of the items (pictured above); Foundation in 380 ($34), a shimmer Match Stix in Rum ($25), a Killawatt in Ginger Binge and Moscow Mule ($34), and the Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow ($18). Fenty Beauty launched with 40 shades of foundation, 30 shades of multi-use match stix in both shimmer and matte, six earth-shattering shimmering Killawatt highlighters, Pro-Filt'R Primer, Invisimatte Blotting Powder and Paper, three Portable Brushes for Touch Up, Contour & Concealer and Highlighter as well as a Check Hugging Highlighter Brush, Full-Bodied Foundation Brush and Precision Makeup Sponge. Ohhh, can't forget to mention the bold choice of only including one lip product, Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow and marketing it as universal.

I opted not to buy the primer this time but will go back and purchase it. Once I got home I realized I don't have a primer that blurs my skin so I goofed on that one. Fenty Beauty is available at Sephora and UK based Harvey Nichols stores as well as Offered in stores is a match stix trio for $54 in four different combinations of light, medium, tan and deep each containing a shade for concealer, highlighter and contour. However, you can customize your match stix trio on for the same price $54 (hint, hint).

Check out my mini review from our instastory to the right.

So let me tell you what all the hype is about.

The foundation feels light as air and because I usually wear a dewy finish I was a little skeptical at first. I was pleasantly surprised that it has light to medium, but buildable coverage with a soft matte finish as the name promises.

The shade I picked up is perfect for my summertime glow, but I am usually a little bit cooler in the fall/winter months so I'll probably pick up a cooler shade when it's in stock again.

On to the shimmer match stix in rum, it was a subtle glow that I could use all year round. It's blendable and creamy yet powdery when dry. I screamed in excited when I swatched Moscow Mule and Ginger Binge. Both are incredibly pigmented and shimmery. Ginger Binge is perfect as a blush while Moscow Mule can be layered over Sinamon or Rum as a highlighter for some extra glow.

Gloss Bomb is a breath of fresh air. It brought me back to my no-makeup wearing tons of gloss days. And I am here for it. The formula is non-sticky with tons of shine, shimmer and a subtle pink nude tint. Truly a universal color for all.

If you haven't tried Fenty Beauty, run to Sephora and give it a try. This is going to be my go-to beauty brand because I love this #Fentyglow I am getting. It gives a 'my skin but better' look and could start a beauty trend. Taking over all the beat faces and replacing them with a more refreshed summertime glow. Hmmm...let's wait and see.

We all know that this launch was just a teaser focusing on perfecting foundation and it delivered. So I'm sure there are more things up Fenty Beauty's sleeves.

Let me know if you tried it! Did Fenty Beauty deliver for you?
